Channelling their fury and fun into no-nonsense, no horsehit and politically charged music, Hungry recently released their single “On Sight” and more recently the video for the song.
“On Sight” boldly calls out middle-class guilt and the impotence of convenient morality. Blending math-rock, funk, and energetic new wave guitar pop, the band delivers socio-political commentary through scrutinising lyrics and biting satire.
Jacob Peck, frontman for Hungry, explains,
’On Sight’ attempts to paint the character of those who turn against their moral views for profit. Whilst doing harm and working against progressive change, people often still believe they are doing a good thing. Sometimes it’s a state of wilful ignorance, sometimes people are victims of systemic deceit, but either way often only make shifts in their position or behaviour based on their individual situation, rather than any concrete morality.
Aiming to spark collective awakening and conversations about pressing issues, Hungry not only is focusing on their own musical growth but on leading others to grow as well. “On Sight” is a sure fire conversation starter not only in the thematic messaging of its lyrics but with brilliant bass riffs, head bopping drums, and ferociously fun guitars.
