LISTEN: “Pretty Boys” by Kiki Holli

I immediately got Anastasia vibes upon first listening to “Pretty Boys” by Kiki Holli. While the single is a month old, it nonetheless deserves a listen.

While I may be late to the dancefloor for “Pretty Boys”, Kiki says this of the song,

I see this song as a nod to the LGBTQ+ community. It’s about finding your strength and power in that community, in friendship and on the dance floor.

Yes, the song has a banging bass, hooky synths, and catchy lyrics, but what makes “Pretty Boys” is Kiki’s voice. Goddamn she’s got a voice. Kiki Holli has soul that you don’t hear in current pop songs. There’s not only an emotional depth to her voice, but it’s also rich and velvety smooth. Her voice nurtures and encourages while simultaneously seducing.

That seduction is explored in the lyrics through attraction, allurement, and self empowerment. The song induces booty shaking and everyone to be their own version of a ‘pretty boy’.

Kik further adds about the song,

It matters what you think of yourself, not how the world defines what a pretty boy may or may not be.
