Sharp wit meets surf rock swagger in the singalong anthem from Oswald Slain. Their latest single, “Sean Paul”, from their forthcoming EP Kiss Me on the Mouth (April 16th) is an effortlessly cool and high-energy anthem that turns self-reflection into something you can shout along to. Blending humor with infectious melodies the band makes the track damn near impossible to ignore.
Vocalist Charlie Fitzgerald describes the song,
It’s a nostalgic confrontation of personal flaws and failures, dressed up in a pretty little surf rock smock and a happy-go-lucky pair of shiny loafers. I was trying to write a classic loser song but it ended up all fun and silly and brought a great sense of humour to something that can haunt me from time to time.
That mix of self-deprecation and attitude defines the song’s appeal. It’s the kind of track that invites you to dance through your regrets while embracing imperfection with a grin.
Produced by Ryan Rogers (MumbleTide), “Sean Paul” thrives on tight, driving rhythms and fuzzy guitar hooks that nod to classic rock influences while keeping the energy fresh and modern. The singalong choruses feel built for packed live shows, where its mix of humor and raw honesty will hit even harder.
Oswald Slain has a knack for turning personal struggles into something fun and cathartic. With “Sean Paul’, they prove that even moments of self-doubt can be soundtracked by blistering riffs and undeniable charm.
