LISTEN: “Simone” by Joy Buzzer

Joy Buzzer’s new single “Simone” charges out of the gate like a racecar on fire. Fueled by the ache of unreturned affection and the thrill of letting it rip anyway, the band describes the song as “a heartbreaking story of isolation and unrequited love—blasted out by drums and wires at 500 mph”.

The track balances its emotional undercurrent with the kind of tightly wound musical energy that makes power pop such a sweet punch to the gut. Built around a classic formula of melodic guitars, hyper-driven rhythms, and a front-and-center vocal performance, “Simone” doesn’t waste a second.

Kevin Lydon’s voice delivers the hook with conviction, while Jed Becker’s songwriting keeps the edges sharp and the pace relentless. The band sounds locked in, tight enough to bounce a coin off, but never over-polished. That grit is part of the charm.

While their last album Pleased To Meet You made a strong impression, “Simone” feels like the band is revving even harder into their strengths. It’s a standalone single that refuses to play in the background. It’s alive with big feelings, fast tempos, and zero hesitation.
