LISTEN: “Street Spirit (Fade Out)” by Harakiri for the Sky

Austrian post-metal pioneers Harakiri for the Sky offer a stunning reimagining of Radiohead’s “Street Spirit (Fade Out). From their forthcoming album Scorched Earth (January 24), the song features PG of Groza and weaves Harakiri for the Sky’s signature sound with the haunting essence of the original.

Creating  a rendition that’s both familiar and refreshingly distinct, their version creates a strikingly atmospheric single that bridges despair and intensity. With the band’s ability to fuse shimmering melodies with crushing music, they transform the delicate sadness of the Radiohead classic into a monumental and emotionally charged experience. PG’s contribution adds raw ferocity that pushes the song into a darker and heavier realm without sacrificing its fragile beauty.

Harakiri for the Sky’s lush arrangements and layered production highlight their roots in 90s indie rock while grounding the piece firmly in their unique, post-metal aesthetic. In their own words, the band notes,

“We chose to cover ‘Street Spirit’ because it resonates deeply with the emotions that drive our music—a haunting reflection of despair and hope.”

Underscoring their reverence for the original while amplifying its emotional weight through their artistic lens, their interpretation is not merely a cover but a bold reinvention and a heartfelt homage.
