Ahead of the August 16th release of I’m Glad This Has Been So Easy For You, Lit. Major, the music project helmed by Remy Josef, unveiled a poignant new single titled “The Muse.”
“The Muse” marks a departure from Lit. Major‘s previous single, “Bitter Pill,” which was noted for its fiery intensity. In contrast, “The Muse” embodies a mournful and introspective tone. It dives into the emotional fallout of a fractured friendship that has profoundly influenced the entire record. Through a blend of melancholy and vulnerability, Lit. Major reflects on the complexities of this relationship and its impact on his creative process.
The song also represents a notable evolution in Lit. Major’s sound, featuring live string arrangements for the first time in his work. Violinist Ciara Picard and slide guitarist Luke Janke of Sea Grapes contribute their talents and enhance the track’s emotional depth. Lit. Major’s delicate nylon guitar work, atmospheric keyboards, and vocals anchor the piece, creating a rich, textured soundscape that underscores its introspective lyrics.
Not only is “The Muse” a deeply personal story, it’s a story and song that will tug at one’s emotional core.
