Here in Australia, a hot topic of conversation and political debate is the Voice Referendum. The referendum is whether to change the Australian Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander independent advisory body to assist the Australian Parliament and Government on matters that affect the lives of the First Peoples.
While Jamie Webster didn’t write his song “Voice of the Voiceless” in response to what is happening here in Australia, it nonetheless connects with what is happening here.
The Universal meaning of Jamie’s lyrics is what allows his latest single to transcend time and location.
Jamie says this on the song,
‘Voice Of The Voiceless’ is a call to action for people who feel like they’ve got no way out of a life where the odds are constantly stacked against us. So many of us feel alone, powerless and with no chance to succeeding in today’s society. This song is a reminder that we’re not alone, that if we rise from the shadows and come together, we might actually have a chance to make a positive change for everyone.
And that’s the wondrous beauty of music.
Not only does music encourage one to become a voice for those without a voice, it also gives a voice to those who do not have a voice.
If you have the ability to help, to make a difference, to speak, to lift others, why wouldn’t you help be a voice of change?
That’s what Jamie Webster is asking – are you willing to be a voice for those who cannot speak and are you ready to make a difference in the life or lives of others.
Be the voice for another.
