Also if you don’t get the above reference, get thee to a television quick.

Cardiff, 1973, heavy metal band, Budgie released their 3rd album, Never Turn your Back on a Friend. Recorded at Rockfield Studios, the album solidified the band’s position as a dominant force within the early seventies hard rock/metal movement and their influence has been cited by the likes of Van Halen, Iron Maiden, and Metallica to name a few.

50 years later, Pale Wizard Records commemorates the album’s milestone as part of their ’50 Years Later’ series. Previous tributes include, Alice Cooper‘s Killer and David Bowie‘s Ziggy Stardust and with this tribute to Budgie, they have enlisted underground rock bands Alunah, Firegarden, The Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovel, Regulus, Syncolima, Great Electric Quest, Sergeant Thunderhoof, La Chinga, Low Voltage, and Solar Sons to bring the yesteryear influencers into the now.

Infusing their unique interpretations, each artist breathes new life into the classic album. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of Budgie or a newcomer to their music, this release offers a mesmerising journey through the album’s legacy.
