[MEDIA RELEASE] Impressed Recordings, Australia’s new favourite boutique record label has found their new home in a long-dedicated creative hub in Woolloomooloo. Finally opening their very own bricks and mortar record store, they are embracing the enduring appeal of physical music and community in the midst of a vinyl resurgence.
Launching on Saturday, April 20, Impressed Recordings’ new music hub will host exclusive vinyl drops from The Wiggles, James Johnston, Tasman Keith, The Terrys and more. The evening will see a special after-party with an intimate show from Babitha, playing songs from her recently re-pressed debut album, Brighter Side of Blue.
Impressed Recordings was conceived to provide an online – and now physical – home to artists and audiophiles alike. Redefining the landscape of music and vinyl production and making a lasting impact, Impressed Recordings have had their fingers on the Australian music pulse since 2023, slowly etching its mark on the industry; from the swift sell-out of The Wiggles’ Yummy Yummy vinyl drop to the commanding Royel Otis’ EPs Bar & Grill/Sofa Kings, they provide a life-line for talented artists you might not have heard of before, curating your new favourites as well as go-tos. With a dedicated artist-and listener first ethos, Impressed spearheads opportunities for musicians to release their music on vinyl, covering production costs, ensuring full royalties, and securing chart recognition.
Now, they’re rewriting the playbook once more, with a curated haven to create experiences and a home to connect musicians with listeners. As record stores were once the hub for music aficionados to connect, discover new music and cement friendships, Impressed has come back to revive that special lost essence in today’s musical landscape. Step into their vibrant new physical store in Woolloomooloo, as Sydney finally gains a new oasis for music enthusiasts.
The store will offer a curated selection of exclusive Impressed releases, curated second-hand vinyl and a hand-picked selection of rare music books. Previously an art gallery, it sets itself apart from traditional music stores, becoming a prime destination for creatives, musicians and music lovers alike. The hub will host a range of in-store events, featuring artists that have released on Impressed, offering an intimate and unique gig experience that is second to none.
