“Bogart & Me,” the latest single from Portland-based Chicano rocker Joshua Josué, is a stripped-back and soul-stirring glimpse into the emotional heart of his debut album Beneath the Sand, arriving August 8th. Recorded deep in the Mojave Desert with a powerhouse lineup of musicians, “Bogart & Me” stands out for its sincerity, restraint, and quietly powerful storytelling.

Set against a sparse backdrop that leans into Joshua’s Americana and Latin folk roots, “Bogart & Me” avoids theatrics in favour of raw intimacy. The lyrics, written during a cross-country journey to record with his musical heroes, capture a sense of vulnerability that’s both grounded and defiant.

“I was on an adventure of a lifetime, driving through the desert to record with my musical heroes — Stepping out into the unknown to give your dream its best shot can be a bit scary and isolating. But I had Bogart with me on this journey. Ever loving and supportive, this song is for him — and this adventure.”

That devotion, part tribute and part confession grounds the track in something real and refreshingly unpolished. The lyric video itself leans into dusty minimalism by echoing the emotional landscape of the song. There’s no forced grandeur and no grand crescendo. It’s just a man, his dog, and the weight of doing something that matters.
