Welsh artist Gareth Bonello, known as The Gentle Good, returns with “Tachwedd,” the first single from his upcoming album Elan, set for release in May 2025. Written during a year-long residency in the Cambrian Mountains, “Tachwedd” channels the vibrant energy of autumn into an upbeat psychedelic soundscape, blending folk tradition with contemporary flair.
The track is an intricate celebration of the changing season, with Bonello’s warm vocals and melodic guitar lines at its heart. Accompanied by Frank Naughton’s lush keyboard and bass layers and Andy Fung’s dynamic drumming, the song feels alive with movement, as if mirroring the rhythm of falling leaves and crisp November winds. Bonello’s cello arrangements add depth and texture, elevating the track into a sonic tapestry that’s rich and inviting.
“Tachwedd,” which means “November” in Welsh, also serves as a reminder to embrace the light as the darker months approach. This sentiment is infused into every note, creating a piece that’s as uplifting as it is immersive. Through its psychedelic hues and intricate instrumentation, “Tachwedd” offers a compelling introduction to an album poised to merge the past and present into a distinctly Welsh narrative.
