If you don’t think the this song is about being a woman and empowering women, then you obviously didn’t read the title of the song, “Because I Am a Woman”.

“Because I Am a Woman” by Angharad is a call to arms for women to unite and stand together for change.

Of the song, Angharad says,

‘Because I Am A Woman’ was written as a response to the widely accepted beliefs in the music industry that it’s not possible to be a mother and have a successful career. I received some hostile reactions myself when I announced that I was pregnant. I was told that I was unambitious and that I was no longer serious about following a career in music. These outdated, sexist attitudes need to change.

“Because I Am a Woman” is a force to be reckoned with. Not only with its empowering message but also with its music. Filled with horns, funk, and solid gold disco vibes, “Because I Am a Woman” falls in line with Chaka Kahn’s “I’m Every Woman”. The vibe might be fun, but the power of being a woman is there, ready to kick anyone out of the way.
