The debut single, “Give Me a Moment” by House of Wolves was inspired by the moment when love (or lust) walks in and silences the room.
The trio of Tom, Jake, and Henry, aka House of Wolves, formed during the lockdown and they have spent time building their fanbase, their bond as a band, and writing catchy, riff driven tunes.
With their debut EP coming out later this year, the band has their site set on overcoming the injuries band member Henry sustained from being attacked by 5 dogs in April this year. (Contribute to Henry’s recovery via GoFundMe if you can.)
On the song, Henry says,
‘Give Me a Moment’ was one of the first songs I wrote for the band. When the three of us got together we went on a bonding and writing holiday to Mexico where Jake, our bass player is from. We landed and went straight out with an acoustic to some crazy Mexican bar and ended up downing Tequila with the locals. The next thing these two Mexican girls walked in and it was one of those moments where the whole bar went silent. So, there’s three of us in the band and only two of them so I decided to go the extra mile and write something to give me the edge over Tom and Jake. Five minutes later I had ‘Give Me A Moment’ and it was my plea to those two Mexican girls.
Containing the essence of pure good ol’ rock-n-roll, “Give Me a Moment” quickly written lyrics fuel the wailing guitar, thundering bass, and heart pounding drums.
While the music is hooky and the lyrics resonate to a moment all of humanity has probably felt at one point in time, I have to say, the shining star of “Give Me a Moment” are Henry’s vocals. There’s rough and raw edginess to his voice that is reminiscent of the late Kurt Cobain, the late Scott Weiland, and Dave Grohl. The slight rasp catches the listener’s ear and heart and forces one to fall in love with “Give Me a Moment”.
That vocal energy plus the catchy appeal of the music is what makes “Give Me a Moment” a breath of fresh air. It’s also what will make House of Wolves stand out in a pack of cookie cutter rock bands.
