EP REVIEW: Alter by Dialith

Dialith’s latest EP, Alter, will set a bold new standard for symphonic power metal. Out on April 5th, the four track EP shows the four piece band’s continuing evolution and musical prowess.

Lead vocalist Krista Sion reflects on the EP’s creation,

“With every new release, I think that the quality of the songs just gets better and better. All four songs on this EP are high-energy, unique, and special to me. I am looking forward to releasing this out into the wild.”

Opening with the flute and fiddle filled “Writhing Red,” the song looks at anger, hate, and greed. With “Ironbound” one has to ask – does the saxophone make the song or does the song make the saxophone?

The true answer here is a saxophone! With the saxophone by FoolishFrankie, “Ironbound” is the stand out track of Alter and it’s not just the saxophone that makes it the stand out track. It’s the song as a whole from music to vocals. There’s not a note out of place.

The final two tracks “Hourglass (Shadowdancer Pt. 1)” and “Shadowdancer” transport listeners to a world steeped in Middle Eastern mystique, with intricate instrumentation and evocative lyrics that pay homage to the mythology of the ancient Near East.

Bold and artistic, Alter is a triumphant display of Dialith’s musical evolution.
