Besides reclaiming ‘bitch’ as a badge of honour, Prism Bitch have traded norms for something refreshingly distinctive and they’re hitting all the right notes.
Case in point, their latest single, “City Nights” is a perfect mix of fun and infectiousness that has defined the band since their debut album, Perla (2021).
With the creative forces of Lilah Rose (keys, guitar, vocals) and Teresa Cruces (drums, vocals), joining what had originally been an art project by Lauren Poole (bass, vocals) and Chris Walsh (guitar), the unparalleled and unpredictable signature sound of Prism Bitch was born.
Their irresistible sound can be heard in “City Nights.” “City Nights” is a dancey, top-tapping banger that effortlessly channels an 80’s vibe and infuses it with a throbbing drum loop, groovy basslines, soaring guitar melodies, and lyrics that instantly hook one in.
“City Nights” is bold and fun, and so is the hilarious and campy accompanying video that sees ‘the band of many wigs’ tackling a newsroom love triangle.
On the video, Lauren says,
“We were able to get all this help from our community in ABQ and ended up making something really fun. It’s important not to disengage from the world around us with all the intense and very scary things happening. It’s also important to keep fun alive, and we really hope that this song and video will brighten someone’s day.”
Redefining the so-called norm, Prism Bitch and “City Nights” arrived just in time for the weekend. Both are the double shot of whiskey one may partake in to kick the weekend off right.
“City Nights” is infectious, high octane fun, and best served on repeat.
