It might sound like a cliche to say that Gold Fever has struck gold with their latest single, “Leather (Wish I Felt the Same)” but when a song is as infectious and fun as this one, who can resist acknowledging its brilliance?
Beyond just being a catchy tune, “Leather (Wish I Felt the Same)” signifies a significant transition for Gold Fever. The band has expanded their lineup by adding the talented multi-instrumentalist, Tommy Henry, turning them into a formidable four-piece. As emerging indie darlings, they’ve garnered substantial support from esteemed platforms such as BBC Radio 6, BBC Introducing, CLASH, and Clunk Magazine, propelling them into the spotlight and winning the hearts of fans.
Frontman Oscar JD Sault says this of the song,
‘Leather’ is about transition and how that was applicable to many aspects of my life at the time of writing. I felt stagnant while things around me changed. My perspective on my home city of Bristol became suffocatingly melancholic. Ultimately, I realised it was me who was losing myself. That kind of nostalgia is intoxicating, it’s surreal and numbing and almost feels sentient. ‘Leather’ is a song about forgetting who you are.
“Leather (Wish I Felt the Same)” not only solidifies their presence in the music scene but also delivers a powerful statement, much like their previous hit, “DB Cooper”. The song effortlessly swings and sways with swagger and panache, exuding a refined pop punk thrash about the pit vibe. The fervent confidence in the vocals and the compelling lyrics turn “Leather (Wish I Felt the Same)” into both a captivating sing-along anthem and an irresistible dance tune.
With this electrifying single, Gold Fever proves that they’re here to stay, and their infectious sound is bound to captivate audiences, leaving them eagerly awaiting what this talented quartet has in store next.
