Vancouver’s la lune are back with their sophomore single, “a little life”.
Not to be confused with the saccharine sweet and overplayed in every video on social media “Little Life”, la lune’s shoegaze vibe is far from saccharine and sweet.
“a little life”, like their debut single “disparity”, is a melancholic anthem of hopeless hope that is ethereal and dreamlike. Hazy guitars and vocals pull one through a fog of gloomy desolation while the bass and drums slowly stalk, desperately trying to pull one back into the murkiness of solitude.
Despite the often bleakness of shoegaze music, the way la lune weaves together their music, vocals, and lyrics makes “a little life” an optimistic and tender track that gently exposes the dreams, hopes, and fears one can have for their lives.
