Harley Alaska might seem like a born-and-bred American, but this Eora (Sydney) based pop artist defies that assumption. His latest single, “Deja Vu,” marks his return with an upbeat melody exploring the potent triggers that transport us back to memories of past loves.
Taking full creative reins, Harley wrote, produced, and recorded the single independently. He shares his inspiration behind the song, explaining,
“I loved the idea of writing a song about the saying ‘right place, wrong time’ but in a really tangible way – like this house is THE house / the right place, but I can’t tell whether the time I’m here is the right one – and it’s messing with me. It’s like, when the person you’re with keeps reminding you of someone from your past, what does that mean? Is that a good or bad thing?”
Directed by Madeleine Purdy on Gadigal Land, the accompanying video delves into Harley being lost in nostalgia for a previous relationship.
With a knack for crafting infectious pop hooks, Harley Alaska delivers a mesmerising and catchy track, blending a dreamy vibe with an irresistible melody.
