LISTEN: “Lambs and Goats” by Hateful Chains

Finnish Gothic Rock act Hateful Chains are back with “Lambs and Goats,” the title track from their upcoming sophomore album. A fusion of dark and danceable grooves with sharp thematic exploration, the song delivers a striking blend of Gothic aesthetics with modern indie and metal elements that showcases the band’s unique sonic identity.

With driving rhythms and dynamic shifts that reflect the unpredictability of its theme, the single’s energy is immediately engaging with the band’s signature style, abrupt changes, intricate breaks. It all keeps one hooked as the layers of sound unfold. The haunting melody, carried by Flora Kok’s commanding vocals, injects a theatrical intensity that perfectly balances the track’s thought-provoking subject matter.

“Lambs and Goats” tackles the shared patterns of belief systems across opposing ideologies.

Flora explains,

“I grew up in the circles of evangelical churches. In the process of leaving my faith behind, I realised that superstition is as prevalent in these churches, as it can be in the New Age circles I later came across. Faith to the other is just Law of Attraction to the other. Prayer and meditation? The same.”

She continues,

“The similarities are striking! Yet, the lambs think they have the truth and the goats think they have the knowledge…”

Written during the height of the pandemic, the song captures the eerie alignment of conspiracy theories and belief systems during that time. This relevance adds another layer of weight to an already potent track.

“Lambs and Goats” stands as both a sonic triumph and a bold artistic statement, proving that Hateful Chains aren’t just creating music but crafting conversations.
