[MEDIA RELEASE] Toronto-based hardcore/crossover thrash quartet, THE SLIME, have returned with “Washout Revenge” and “Sludge”, the latest double single from their upcoming album Crabwalk To Oblivion. This furious double single dose of thrashy punk is available to stream on all platforms now.
The band comments,
“‘Washout Revenge’ is one our most straight-up punk numbers. Gets out the gate at top speed and stays that way. We always like it to start out a set so made sense at the top of the album.
Lyrically it’s about the revenge of society’s rejects. I remember in high school they used to call us “dirty kids”, all the smokers, stoners, metalheads, etc. who used to hang out at the smokers pit. A lot of those people were written off by their peers and by teachers and everyone else. So why not imagine them coming back to haunt the successful people that pushed them aside?
About “Sludge” they further stated
“This one’s named for the slow and sludgey riff at the beginning. One of our heavier sections and then it turns into a staccato mid-tempo part. A real weird juxtaposition of rhythms here that’s fun to play.
The lyrics are much more free-form, free association. I’m writing here about self-sacrifice but also putting yourself through painful self-examination. “Look inside to behold, walk on these coals”. It’s about the mental tortures we put ourselves through and sometimes how you learn and grow from that.”
