This week Visions of Atlantis announced the follow up to their 2022 album Pirates will be Pirates II Armada that will be out on July 5th on Napalm Records and along with the announcement was the release of the single and video “Armada.”
And damn, it’s fantastic.
What makes it fantastic is the vocal dance between Clèmentine Delauney and Michele Guaitoli. They offer a perfect yin and yang to each other that I’m not quite sure any other vocal sharing duo could touch. The clean strength of Clèmentine’s voice is a beautiful contrast to the grit strength of Michele’s.
For me, their vocal duality makes Visions of Atlantis not only who they are but carries them as a band. But it’s not all Clèmentine and Michele, the rest of the band is precision sharp not only in their playing but in attitude and it shows in “Armada.”
For the video, we see pirate queen Clèmentine and captain Michele defend their ship from attack. The video wonderfully plays to the strengths of the song and allows the band to become action stars.
