DEBUT EP REVIEW: Tiny World by Kaylah Thomas

The debut EP, Tiny World (December 1) from Victoria’s Kaylah Thomas is far from tiny. In the span of four indie pop filled tracks, Kaylah reflects on forgiveness and moving forward. While Kaylah may be exploring a small portion of her world, she’s doing so with vocals that capture the emotions of the heartfelt lyrics and catchy music.

Recorded with Sam Swain, Kaylah acknowledges his contribution to her debut EP,

“Sam has been instrumental in the creation of this EP; it simply wouldn’t be what it is without him.”

Her ability to craft stories shines in the stand out song, “To the Bone” where her vocals are tinged with the influence of Taylor Swift, but it’s her writing that rises above all.

There’s a flair to Kaylah’s writing that is rich with emotion and retrospection. Despite her twentysomething age, Kaylah’s writing is filled with wisdom, vulnerability, and a softness for baring herself, flaws and all.

Kaylah Thomas invites listeners into her world through Tiny World, a collection of beautiful and honest lyrics that explore themes of love, loss, and nostalgia. With her invitation, one is invited to sit back with a cup of tea, listen, and perhaps reflect on their own life.
