Immersed in a mesmerising 80’s aura filled with sensuous synths and velvety beats, the multi-talented John Roberts recently unveiled his irresistibly catchy track, “Nothin 4 Something” earlier this month.
While John is perhaps better known for lending his voice to the endearing, quirky mom, Linda Belcher, on the popular animated series “Bob’s Burgers,” he joined forces with producer Junior Sanchez (known for working with artists like Katy Perry and Felix Da Housecat) to create the magic behind “Nothin 4 Something.”
John says this about the song,
I wanted to write a song about this asshole ex-boyfriend of mine who was toxic. It’s an empowerment song. The 80’s inspired guitar solo by Fuzz Sangiovanni is also incredible and Junior Sanchez slayed the production.
What’s captivating about this song is not only its nostalgic 80’s vibes but also its lyrics. They’re solid gold earworms that burrow into your mind, refusing to budge long after the music has stopped.
The accompanying music video, directed by Cody Critcheloe of Yeah Yeah Yeahs fame, offers a theatrical and cinematic experience, seamlessly weaving together the dramatic and the surreal, adding another layer of artistry to the song’s allure.
“Nothin 4 Something” is an unapologetic breakup anthem that is sure to leave you humming its tunes for days on end.
