LISTEN: “Ready Cell Awaits” by Slaughtersun

Music
Shelia Taylor
March 22, 2024

Following their face melting debut single, “Fall of the Firmament” and it’s predecessor “Relentless Thelemic”, Slaughtersun‘s relentless assault on the senses continues with their latest single, “Ready Cell Awaits.”

The four piece of Justin Hillman on vocals, Ben Karas on guitar, Cody McCorry on bass, and Jason Quinones on drums, delivers a visceral experience that blends intense melody with technical expertise.

On the song, Justin says,

“‘Ready Cell Awaits’ takes the listener on the journey of sitting in a cell, awaiting execution and searching desperately for anything spiritual to cling to in order to relieve the anguish.”

The grim inspiration allows “Ready Cell Awaits” to be not only brutally honest but to be brutally heavy in lyrics and music. With clashing leads and a relentless sonic assault, Slaughtersun creates an atmosphere that immerses one in the unsettling tension of dire circumstances.

With each heavy riff and thunderous rhythm in “Ready Cell Awaits”, Slaughtersun dives headfirst into human emotion and existential turmoil of a soul that is facing death.

“Ready Cell Awaits” is frightfully morbid, yet shockingly cathartic.
