HOT TRACK: “Fever” by CRASHKID!

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmnnnnnn. That was my first thought when I heard “Fever” by Glasgow’s CRASHKID!

If I’m honest, at one point, I just wanted to write bullet points of adjectives to describe why “Fever” is so great, but that would be unfair to CRASHKID! and to anyone reading this piece because the scorching hot track will ignite one’s senses with its wildly hooky rhythms and energy.

And I haven’t even mentioned it has a saxophone yet! SAXOPHONE!

The four piece of TJ Green (lead vocals, guitar), Harry Bang (drums), Andrew Dunn (lead guitar), and Ryan Davies (bass) spent the last year evolving their sound to include core elements that they felt defined the band:

  • solid groove – check – “Fever” is saturated with slapping bass lines and precision sharp drums that are funky and fun
  • fresh pop sounds – check – could pop radio play “Fever”? Absolutely, it would stand out like a diamond in a sea of cookie cutter sound.
  • rock edge – check – I think of “Fever” as more of a rock song than a pop song, but that just shows the talent of CRASHKID! The opening chorus gives me Queen vibes before it erupts into a wonderful rockin’ jam.

One of the best things about “Fever” is that there is a musical instrument for everyone and I don’t even mean the guitars, bass, and drums. I’m speaking of the electrifying saxophone, the smart use of synths and keys, and a touch of bongos to bring it all home. The way CRASHKID! has brought them together has created a bold and exciting sound that sets them apart from others. Then there are the lyrics. They’re damn catchy, infectious, and create a wonderful melody to the music.

With “Fever”, CRASHKID! delivers a sonic explosion that’s impossible to resist.
