DEBUT EP REVIEW: My Dreamworld by Lilac Haze

Formed this year by songwriter Katrina Swift, Lilac Haze entered the music scene with a pair of dazzling singles, “The Ghost That I Once Knew” and “Lilac Haze”. She then followed both with “Daisy Girl” and “My Dreamworld”, both from her soon to be released debut EP, My Dreamworld.

The EP was co-produced with Calum Wotherspoon (Nightswimming), mastered by Adam Ayan (Paul McCartney, Lana Del Ray, Carrie Underwood), with guitarist Dylan Osafo and drummer Callum Maloney collaborating throughout. Also collaborating with Lilia Haze was Julianne Regan of All About Eve on the title track.

On the EP, the artist says,

“I wanted to create something that would transport the listener to another world where dreams and hopes don’t feel like a million miles away or unreachable, and to know that things can get better no matter how bleak the reality may seem.”

Lilac Haze should consider the achievement unlocked.

My Dreamworld delves deep into the realms of change, new beginnings, shedding fear, and embracing the present moment. Yet, it’s Katrina’s voice that soars higher than the melodies and verses, a luminous, ethereal presence gracefully ascending towards the sun. Her vocals provide a steadfast pillar in the landscape of hopes and dreams, illuminating the path toward the end of the tunnel or the vivid masterpiece waiting to be painted on the blank canvas of the present.

Across My Dreamworld‘s four tracks, each note swells into the next, carrying with it an aura of light, boundless joy, and an unwavering flame of hope. These emotions unite us all, anchoring us to the dreams we nurture and cherish.

In My Dreamworld, Lilac Haze becomes the guiding light that leads us through the shifting landscapes of our aspirations.

My Dreamworld is out Friday, October 27.
