HOT TRACKS: “A Night At Ye Olde Red Cow” and “Liar At The Bar” by The Rusty Nutz

Loki isn’t the only one timeslipping through time and space. Swansea’s beloved weirdos, The Rusty Nutz are timeslipping back to 1970’s Swansea with their new double A-side single, “A Night at Ye Olde Red Cow” and “Liar at the Bar”.

Digitally available and on a limited edition 7’ inch lathe cut record from Lavender Sweep Records, the double single serves up a raucous great time.

Prepare to be transported through time with the opening hook of “A Night at Ye Olde Red Cow”. The track submerges one in a cacophony of cranked up guitars, organ-esque keys, an infectious backbeat, and beguiling spoken word vocals. Traversing between the past and the present, “A Night at Ye Olde Red Cow” exudes the essence of 70’s rock and psychedelic rock with its hooky, wailing guitars, and nostalgic organs but it also infuses a modern heaviness through crunchy guitars, cheeky lyrics, and a certain playfulness that is lighthearted fun.

“Liar at the Bar” picks up where its predecessor has left off and carries one through time with a bluesy psychedelic 70’s rock vibe. The guitars wail and soar, the bass slaps, and the drums rumble, but it’s vocalist Ant Jones’ that pulls one into the song. His gritty and growling delivery echoes of Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, and Brian Johnson and it’s that alluring charm that makes the song insanely catchy.

With an engaging storyline and two infectious and fun songs, The Rusty Nutz prove that weird is not only wonderful but can go beyond time and space no matter where one is in their life or timeline.
