EP REVIEW: Sickness by Gomad! & Monster

On April 26th, Eclipse Records unleashes the Sickness, the latest EP from Spain’s Gomad! & Monster. Don’t think of Sickness like a plague or in recent years a pandemic, but more of a concocted brew that is a blend of the raw power of rock and metal with the electrifying energy of electronic music. It’s a powerful potion that captivates the senses and stirs the spirit.

Sickness is a complex and multi-dimensional sonic landscape where the robotic gear like vocals of Sebastian Shinobi are a perfect match to the techno synths of Alex Tena, the quixotic beats from Ivy, and the whirring of guitars from Doc Inari. The combination draws one into a labyrinth of music and mayhem that ignites not only the soul but the body to move and dance or thrash about.

Like tendrils of smoke curling around a mad scientist’s laboratory, Gomad! & Monster shroud the music, and themselves, in an aura of mystery and intrigue with each element meticulously crafted and layered. Its result is a precision sharp sound that is as rich and textured as it is electrifying.

The only unfortunate side effect of Sickness is that it is only four tracks, but within those four tracks Gomad! & Monster have the sonic cure for mundane and banal music.

Sickness by Gomad! & Monster is a potent elixir of sonic medicine for the soul.
