Black Sites are venturing into darker, more atmospheric territory with their new single, “Gideon,” from their upcoming album The Promised Land? set for release on September 6. The track marks a significant departure from the band’s usual prog and thrash intensity, showcasing their versatility and willingness to explore new sonic landscapes.
Vocalist and guitarist Mark Sugar comments,
“This is a very different song for us, although it fits nicely with the goth-rock side quest we’ve occasionally indulged. For all of our prog and thrash tendencies, sometimes it’s nice to lean into the slower, darker side of things.”
With “Gideon” emphasizing Black Sites‘ foray into a more gothic and brooding sound, it stands out with its slower tempo and dark, immersive atmosphere and offers a refreshing contrast to their typically aggressive style. “Gideon” also highlights the band’s ability to seamlessly blend their heavy influences with a more introspective and melancholic approach.
