In anticipation of their EP, Turning Point, slated for release on January 19th, Becoming the Lion has unveiled their first single, “Intentional Liar” from the EP.
For those unfamiliar, Becoming the Lion initially emerged as Ross Blomgren‘s solo endeavour before evolving into a full-fledged band. The forthcoming EP, Turning Point, sees a return to the project’s origins as a solo venture.
“Intentional Liar” has a striking grunge rock essence, with resonating bass lines and gritty vocals that echoes early Bush and Three Days Grace, with a hint of Alice in Chains.
Multi-instrumentalist frontman, Ross says this of the song,
“‘Intentional Liar’ calls for a bit of self reflection. Nobody’s perfect, but we shouldn’t be purposely leading anyone astray. At the same time, it is also up to each person to recognize negative influences and make healthy choices.”
The evocative and weighty elements within “Intentional Liar” evoke a delightful sense of nostalgia while the lyrics prompt introspection and accountability in one’s decisions.
