LISTEN: “Watch Me Fall Down” by Alberta Cross

Formed by Petter Ericson Stakee and Terry Wolfers in the mid-00s, Alberta Cross are continuing their attack on 2024 with their latest single, “Watch Me Fall Down”.

Recorded with Ed Harcourt (Paloma Faith, James Bay, Lana Del Ray), “Watch Me Fall Down” is a contemplative look at the relationship between a father and his children.

On the song Petter says,

“I’d say it’s a fever dream about the dichotomy between the idealistic perspective that one’s offspring have of their patriarch, yet really there’s a giant invisible tiger pulling all the stitches out of his mangled puppet body. With a lot of guitar pedals for good measure.”

On being in the studio with Ed, Petter says,

“It was a pleasure having Petter in the studio, even if he did insist on opening his jar of rotten mackerel for lunch. We danced in the pale shoegaze moonlight with the patron saint of tinnitus.”

Concealed within the dynamic drumming and infectious melodies lies a poignant lyrical narrative that speaks volumes to those grappling with the intricate dynamics of fatherly relationships.

With its vivacious beats and effervescent groove, there’s a vulnerable honesty with “Watch Me Fall Down” that is grounding, nourishing, honest and wholesome.
