ALBUM REVIEW: Monuments by Last Giant

Perseverance has paid off. Monuments from Last Giant is now available wherever one streams music (or it is at least here in Australia).

If there was ever a band that defined perseverance, it is Last Giant, and Monuments is the proud result of never giving in and never giving up. While we wrote about Last Giant’s ability to adapt, overcome, and improvise, the band has done more than just that, they have risen above whatever the Universe threw at them and in their paths.

The gents of Last Giant, RFK Heise, Matt Wiles, and Palmer Cloud have produced 10 honest rock songs that soar with infectious guitar riffs, pounding drums, and rumbling bass.

What I enjoy about Monuments is that individually, each song works as a complete piece of artwork on its own, while contributing to the overall feel of the album. With each song being able to stand on its own and be a part of a cohesive unit is a testament to the band’s immense writing talent, lyrically and musically.

The first single, “Hell on Burnside” and tracks “Animals”, “Feels Like Water” “Soldiers” are heavy and dirty rockers while songs like “Broken Wires“, “Blue”, and “The Patient” are swampy and grungy rockers and the wall of sound created by both moods hits one square in the chest.

The raw energy and infectious spirit of Monuments will have you humming along and playing the air guitar, drum, or bass for days. So crank up the volume, let your hair down, and let Last Giant take you on a ride through the world of rock and roll with Monuments.
