DEBUT SINGLE REVIEW: “Throw Away Your Money” by D.M.D.B Project

Spearheaded by Dylan Boddy, the D.M.D.B Project is a collaboration of artists working together to create music and their debut single, “Throw Away Your Money”, showcases this collective effort of Dylan and drummer Ashley Field.

“Throw Away Your Money” revolves around the theme of breaking free from the monotony of everyday responsibilities and embracing a carefree lifestyle. It delves into the idea that sometimes, it’s better to let go and live life to the fullest.

From the opening line, “it’s the very first day of summer again, you got the windows wide open, go as fast as you can, and a nice cold ice cream for you and me, the kids in the playground scream R.I.P,” listeners are transported to a comforting memory of carefree summer days, devoid of responsibilities, but like all good things, summer not only ends but so does childhood, and the reality is that in a blink of an eye one is an adult living for the weekend.

“Throw Away Your Money” has an almost psychedelic-surf-punk-indie-pop vibe that blends catchy hooks and melodies into a head bopping jam.

The debut single of D.M.D.B Project serves as an exciting introduction to the collaborative mix. Through the song’s relatable themes and catchy melodies, “Throw Away Your Money” invites listeners to break free from the mundane and embrace a life filled with joy and excitement.

“Throw Away Your Money” will be out on June 22.
